Nello’s Restaurant St Albert, AB – Huge pasta portions, fab sauces and friendly staff

For a birthday dinner, we braved a snowstorm and headed out to the original Nello’s out in St Albert – we’ll have to give the new southside one a whirl soon as I’ve been hearing good things about it! Despite the inclement weather, we were glad to have made reservations for our group, as there were at least two other table celebrating birthdays and the place was packed! Service was friendly and our waitress seemd to anticipate our needs prior to us asking for them :)  On to the food!

Homemade Spinach Pasta - easy peasy recipe for making pasta from scratch!

I've been graciously asked to do a fun little post on making pasta. Up until last month, I thought making home made pasta was only for professionals, until I got a Kitchenaid mixer and found all the fun "attachments" that can go with it. One of which one is the pasta maker attachment. This was my first time making spinach spaghetti, and it's actually easy and quite the experience! Pics done by the talented folks at Kaio Photography!

Congee Queen Thornhill, ON – simple, tasty congee, BBQ duck and best of all, open late!

After a flight back to Canada, we had a layover at the Toronto Pearson, so instead of catching up on some precious precious shut eye, we headed out to grab a late night snack with some of my relatives who lived in the area… sort of, but apparently to little "small" city me, commuting for hours isn’t part of what I’d like to call normal!  Anyways, definetely appreciated the time and distance they had to come out to get me and of course... the food!

Jamacian rum cakes – some pack a punch!

Happy April fools day!!  I almost forgot about these until I stumbled upon the pictures!  After our cruise trip to the Caribbean’s last year to St Thomas, St Lucia, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Croix and Puerto Rico… we brought some of these back so that we could have a taste of the warm smooth rum back at home… in a cake!
