BLT dip recipe.. you heard me right, bacon lettuce and tomato dip!

Bacon, lettuce and tomato.  This tasty combo is usually found in the BLT sandwich... crispy bacon, crisp cool lettuce, and ripe sweet tomatoes.  Well, when I heard folks have made this tasty combo into a dip... I was in love!  Oh yeah, and here's the recipe so you can enjoy it too :D

Kam Do Bakery Richmond, Vancouver BC – best sweetheart cake, or “old wife cake” Lou Po Beng pastries!

There’s a story behind why these odd pastries are filled with barely sweetened wintermelon, a melon more commonly used for savory soups, and wrapped in a super flakey pork lard laden pastry dough, and traditionally given out to Chinese wedding guests, family and friends from the bride’s family to celebrate an upcoming marriage. And the best place to get them on the West Coast… Kam Do Bakery!

Easy cheesey mac and cheese portabello mushroom bowls recipe

I was feeling lazy one night and was craving some mac and cheese.  I didn’t feel like anything fancy, just a down to earth homey, honest bowl of creamy, homemade mac and cheese.  I knew I shouldn’t just have mac and cheese… but was feeling too lazy to make a side of veggies.  So I made my veggies into a bowl to hold mac and cheese.  The portabello mushroom “bowl” roasted in the oven while I made the mac and cheese… I’m surprised I never thought of it before.  The resulting combination was pretty and win-win.

Rosso Pizzeria Edmonton, AB - pizza needs a bit of work

We were surprised De Capo recently changed hands - same staff but different management, and the oddly appointed space was had a facelift too - a new "window" in a wall adjacent to the kitchen gives you a view of the pizza oven, but alas, the huge odd shaped gelato counter/coffee/cashier monstrosity still dominates the room and obscures what should have been show cased as their namesake.  Anyways, on to the food...We stopped in for a quick bite of pizza, and noticed the menu had been pared down, but essentially the same as the previous menu - with the substitution of mozzarella with fior di latte and fancying up the menu.  Still, we had high hopes that now that they were going to focus on the pizza, (which we loved years ago before they lost their pizza chef), that they would have revamped and perfected their pizzas since their name had changed to focus on pizzas.
